Maybe it’s not so weird if you understand that this kind of thing is much more common than is generally perceived.
I agree this is an under-reported problem; 16% of violent crime is domestic and it kills over 100 women and 30 men a year. Violence towards mails is under-reported.
Howvever, in this case, there is a definite smell of PR and ‘management of spin’. It’s the wrong thing to do it on, but it’s there.
